Grump

Grump, Grump, Grump . . .
I sat on a lumpy lump
- till all was fair –
- and I could finally fall away there.
My husband calls to me “grump!”
He says I’m not a morning goody.
I say my emotions are a lump,
And I’m not just a touring loody.
What does it mean – that I have sat?
What does it mean – on a lump I am flat?
The lump is my depression –
Depression throughout this life session.
It tries to take control.
My mornings are the worst,
It has me stuck to its polarity pole –
Until I’m so dry I thirst.
I thirst for joy.
I thirst for a smile.
I search for a decoy,
Until I can see my Lord for a while.
He calls to me from far.
He calls to my soul.
Far away I feel sometimes,
With this depression in a deep lull.
How can I get out of forsaken
What to do when I’m in this lump?
My Lord says to trust in
- His love that has taken
- to His eternity . . .
