Broken Rock

Some rocks are spiny

Some are covered in slime

But all want to be shiny

And be worth more than a dime

Where in these rocks am I?

What am I lighting?

I call out to you Lord and cry.

I don’t want to be fighting.

Hiding in my time with you

Hiding in my prayers

When its just us two

And you giving my heart dares.

You dare me to try

You dare me to be open

When all I want is to die

Not to be broken.

Yet You tell me that I do shine

And I’m worth more than a dime

You tell me I’m not spiny

Or covered and slimy

You just want my heart

You want my love, true

You want me to start

Giving it all to You.

All of my worries

All of my cares

Crying in flurries

And all of my life’s dares.

It’s all for You

I give it all.

To be pure as dew

So I cannot fall.

Even though we don’t ask

For brokenness to let in

It is God’s will and task

So His love can set in.
