An Ode to Joy

What does it mean to be joyful?

Will I twirl in circles?

Laugh when I should cry?

Not show my anger, my sadness, my frustrations?

Or does being joyful mean

That I don’t just blow off to others my steam?

Does it mean I smile and go walking on

Like the way a singer sings a sad song?

“The show must go on!” I to myself say.

But what does the bible say to me about joy today?

Does it say I can’t feel or cry or in life strain?

Does it say my cheeks can’t with tears be stained?

It doesn’t say that at all.

Gods word simply says,

We need to have faith despite our fall,

Despite all of our rainy days.

Faith is being sure of what we hope for

And certain of what we do not see.

With faith we can be sure of this,

That even when we are down, he will ALWAYS love you and me.
